PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT
  • Gross motor development usually delayed.
  • Climbing, crawling, riding bicycles and obstacle courses facilitate this development.
  • The development of fine motor skills is addressed.
EMOTIONAL & SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT

This is learnt through play in a loving, structured environment.

PERCEPTUAL SKILLS
  • Touching, hearing, smelling, tasting and the application of residual vision are used to develop concepts.
  • Braille: Pre-reading and writing skills are developed.
  • Partially sighted learners receive visual stimulation as well as pre-reading and writing skills.

Dit word aangeleer deur middel van spel in ‘n geborge, veilige omgewing.

  • Aanraking, reuk, gehoor en smaak, en die toepassing van residuele sig word gebruik om konsepte te ontwikkel.

VISUALLY IMPAIRED

Referrals for visually impaired learners can be done directly via the counsellor.

Documents needed:

  • Eye report;
  • birth certificate;
  • any other relevant reports, e.g. from occupational therapist, physiotherapist, school etc.

Criteria for admission:

  • toilet-trained
  • independent mobility
  • ability to benefit from school environment
  • application forms will be available after approval of admission
MULTIPLE DISABLED / DEAFBLIND

Multiple disabled and deafblind learners can be referred directly to the school via the psychologist.

  • birth certificate
  • clinic card
  • identification documents of parent(s) and any other relevant reports, e.g. from occupational therapist, physiotherapist, school etc.

  • toelatingsvorms sal beskikbaar wees nadat toelating goedgekeur is
MEERVOUDIGGESTREMDES/DOOFBLINDES

Meervoudiggestremde en doofblinde leerders kan direk na die skool verwys word deur die sielkundige.
