Department for Learners with Multiple Disabilities and Deafblind Learners

Learners in this department have a visual impairment (blind or partially sighted), with cognitive challenges, physical challenges and/or medical challenges.

Learners who are Deafblind have a combined hearing and vision loss, with physical challenges and medical challenges.

Learners who have multiple disabilities (deafblind):

  • have very unique learning needs
  • have very unique means of communication
  • have limited expressive and receptive language
  • have the need for special content in the area of curriculum
  • have very specific learning styles
  • have the need for an individualized curriculum

Every learner’s needs are addressed in an individualized curriculum and the focus is on ABILITY and not disability.

MEERVOUDIGGESTREMDES

Afdeling vir meervoudiggestremde en doofblinde leerders

Leerders in hierdie afdeling het ‘n visuele gestremdheid (blind of swaksiende), met kognitiewe inperking, fisiese uitdagings en/of mediese toestande.

Doofblinde leerders het gehoor- en sigverlies, asook fisiese uitdagings en mediese toestande.

Meervoudiggestremde leerders (doofblindes):

  • het baie unieke leerbehoeftes
  • het baie unieke maniere van kommunikasie
  • het beperkte ekspressiewe en reseptiewe taal
  • het ‘n behoefte aan spesiale inhoude in die kurrikulum
  • het baie spesifieke leerstyle
  • het die behoefte aan ‘n gespesialiseerde kurrikulum

Elke leerder se behoeftes word aangespreek in ‘n geïndividualiseerde kurrikulum en die fokus is eerder of VERMOë as onvermoë.
